The farmhouse kitchen in Mowbarton Barn provides you with everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday and there are simple but adequate facilities in the Shepherd's Hut.
Nearby Wedmore is a large village which boasts a butcher/ farm shop, a fishmonger/ greengrocer, a deli and Wedmore Village Store (which stocks almost everything); it is just five minutes drive away. You can even have local meat delivered from the Somerset Sausage Company. (See review below)They produce pork products at a farm just outside Wedmore - including hog roasts!
You can even have a takeaway delivered! Table 8 is an Indian restaurant which opened last July next door to The George in the centre of Wedmore. We have had some great meals there but they also do free deliveries within a three mile radius (Mowbarton is 1.9 miles)
But if you fancy a night off (or several) there are also plenty of excellent places to eat (and drink!) in Wedmore. The Swan has featured in several national newspaper features and provides bar snacks as well as full meals. The George, with its attractive courtyard and pretty garden right next door to the beautiful church, is equally good, while for tasty traditional fare and a genuine Somerset welcome, try the New Inn. Then there's the Dining Room (which is also a dress shop!) , Nanny Ida's and, during the day - for lunches, teas and morning coffee, Pumpkin, Wedmore's deli, which serves wonderful locally produced meals and snacks.
There are several good places in Wells (eg Goodfellows and The Swan) and Cheddar and we also love the Sheppey Inn, down on the Levels. A brilliant spot to visit - as you will see from their website! And the newly re-opened Wheatsheaf in Allerton, which is also a smokery...
